EXPRESSWAYSONLINE.COM PRINCIPAL TOM KUENNEN INDUCTED INTO CONSTRUCTION WRITERS ASSOCIATION HALL OF FAME

EXPRESSWAYSONLINE.COM principal Tom Kuennen was inducted into the Construction Writers Association Hall of Fame at the association’s Grand Awards Banquet in Crystal City, Va., Oct. 23, 2012.
Also inducted into the CWA Hall of Fame was Marcia Gruver Doyle, editorial director, Construction Media Division, Randall-Reilly Publishing Co., Tuscaloosa, Ala.
“This is a highly prestigious honor awarded to only a few individuals who exemplify true lifetime achievement as journalists in the construction industry,” CWA said.
In 2008, in celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Construction Writers Association created the Hall of Fame to honor journalists for their lifetime achievement in the construction industry. The CWA Founding Fathers — Robert Boger, Duane Cronk, Arthur A. Faber, James T. Jenkins, Jr., E. E. “Gene” Halmos, Henry T. Perez, William H. Quirk, John Rehfeld, Dr. George E. Symons, and Edward Weilepp — along with longtime members Greg Sitek and Gordon Wright, were inducted into the inaugural class at the 2008 Annual Conference.
Since then Jan Tuchman, editor in chief of Engineering News-Record, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2010, CWA inducted Kirk Landers, editor emeritus and former editor-in-chief of Construction Equipment and partner in James Informational Media into the Hall of Fame.
“To be placed by my peers at the same level as these titans of construction writing is a tremendous honor, and one I will treasure,” Kuennen said. “What a privilege to have had such a career and work with such great publications, businesses and people.”
In addition to his work experience, Kuennen has served multiple years as a director of CWA on two separate occasions, has chaired several CWA regional meetings, and served as chairman of its Silver Hard Hat Award committee for numerous years.
